Remember that summer camp, first day of school get-to-know-ya game Two Truths, One Lie where everyone would write two exciting, odd, interesting exciting truths about themselves alongside one exciting, odd, interesting exciting lie and then everyone had to decide which one was which?
Well, the game has gotten a reboot through director/designer cum short filmmaker James Coulson, whose new video sends shivers down our spine.
Everybody has some shadowy secrets—a seemingly shameful kink, a fleeting thought of self-destruction, lust for your brother, a desire to hurt something because it's just. too. cute—our minds can conjure all kinds of unshare-ables. And while most of us have someone—a lover, mother, best friend, or even a diary to divulge our darkness too—sometimes you. just. can't. Sometimes the nasty bits of our psyche have to remain just that—ours. And if you honestly believe that your entire life—inner thoughts included—could be read as an open book, you've got bigger problems than we thought.
Coulson brilliantly taps into our darkness and our desire to purge those thoughts; by having strangers reveal one another's secrets the video camera becomes a kind of bastardized anonymous confessional and boy, do we dig it.
